Lots of news to report-some food-some condos-some just interesting info. Because of the economy and declining ad sales, legendary Conde's GOURMET magazine is folding after its November issue. Also, note 500 restaurants are known to have closed in New York in the last year--so some of the news is just a sign of the times.... We are just back from a 2 day Mid-Atlantic Food, Beverage & Lodging Expo full of events. My distinguished panel consisted of Susan Gordon, Director of Marketing LEBANESE TAVERNA, BRIDGET FORNEY- PR EXEC of PROFILES INC, BILL IRVIN, KOOPERS/FELLS POINT HOSPITALITY GROUP-I was the moderator of the hospitality marketing panel with a room full of restaurant, travel and food executives. Of course, we mostly discussed the how's and merits, privacy issues of social networking for businesses, one of my passions.
This morning, we had a EXPO endorsed breakfast at PHILLIPS HARBORPLACE (touting a new chef ARTURO PAZ from Miami) with Tourism Honcho-Dog-loving pal Executive Director of MD OFFICE of Tourism Development, Margot Amelia-Saval & McCormick execs, Damimmo's Chef Massoud and owner, Mary Ann and RAM & RAMW execs and board members and we heard a fabulous sepeech by the head of the National Restaurant Association.

We enjoyed chatting it up with McCormick Spice executives, friend CHEF Bryan Bernstein, SAVAL FOODS & TRAVIS WRIGHT soon to open Crazy DELICIOUS Confection business (we saw PAUL SAVAL the next day). RODNEY of Dangerously DELICIOUS PIES was serving healthy samples of his pecan pie to the delight of all. It was a foodie heaven put on my TEAM Restaurant ASSOCIATION OF MARYLAND and RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON with great help from KELLY MORRIS (& RANDY), MICHAEL BIRCHENALL OF FOOD SERVICE MONTHLY, JOHN KNORR PHILLIPS and a host of others.

NATE BEACHLER tells me OCEANAIRE SEAFOOD ROOM of HARBOR EAST http://www.theoceanaire.com/locations/baltimore is running a great surf and turf special at $29.95. As sleek as a 1930's ocean liner, the Oceanaire provides the perfect setting to enjoy the freshest seafood flown in daily from around the world. Their food never disappoints and the wine list is quite notable! Recently had Chef Ben's grilled oysters @ Nick's FISH HOUSE Annual TRASH Bash that Oceanaire also sponsors and they were amazing!
