Lots of news to report-some food-some condos-some just interesting info. Because of the economy and declining ad sales, legendary Conde's GOURMET magazine is folding after its November issue. Also, note 500 restaurants are known to have closed in New York in the last year--so some of the news is just a sign of the times.... We are just back from a 2 day Mid-Atlantic Food, Beverage & Lodging Expo full of events.
Did you hear? GOURMET magazine has folded?? Save ur copies!Like a lot of you, we were shocked and saddened to read this October 5th morning that Gourmet magazine, one of the jewels in Condé Nast's publishing crown, is ceasing publishing after the November 2009 issue. Ad pages at Condé Nast have been falling drastically, but the smart money was on the impending folding of its more populist but less talked-about magazine Bon Appétit, or perhaps even on folding it into Gourmet.

TALARA Baltimore, Baltimore's Nuevo Latin-inspired tapas restaurant, is now open for lunch. We answered a twitter invitation and were one of the 1st to sample Talara Baltimore’s new menu created and overseen by Chef/Owner himself, Yves Carreau (who also runs Sonoma Grill in Pittsburgh), his right-arm, General Manager, Nick Rizzo (both seen to the left w/CITYPEEK.com Patti Neumann) and the handsome, Asst. General Manager, Ari Cohen.
