Postmates an online delivery service that began in 2011 by Bastian Lehmann and Sam Street, is succeeding in its vision to power local, on-demand logistics to businesses and consumers. A 'postmates' is a name describing a person who is contracted to pick up and deliver a product on behalf of a business to another person. Call it your personal concierge, who is geo-targetedly-matched with a Postmates courier, who heads to the restaurant or store, makes the purchase, and then delivers the food or goods you order. Delivery is promised to arrive within an hour.
Like other delivery services online, the service is powered by an app, and through the Starbucks® mobile app. Never leave your office and have your triple latte, Starbuckian drink and scone delivered to your desk. It currently services the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Austin, Washington D.C., Miami, Orange County, San Diego, Seattle, Las Vegas, Houston, Dallas, Portland, Phoenix, and Denver areas.
Postmates blog reports: "With such incredible traction on their leading mobile payment app, Starbucks delivery by Postmates is an extension of what customers are looking for today, and provides a type of convenience that was never before available. Together with Starbucks, we are working to set a new standard for e-commerce and convenience."
Drivers of all type are hired and are over 18; own a bike, car, truck, scooter or motorcycle; and have an upbeat and positive attitude. Compensation Postmates, or drivers, receive the majority of the delivery fee, plus 100% of the tip, close to $25/hour.
