Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Maryland Science Center will host Dr. Helen Fisher to explain the science behind attraction. Dr. Fisher will discuss the how the brain and distinct personality traits help us choose whom to love in her lecture “Lust, Romance & Attachment: The Science of Love and Whom We Choose.”
Dr. Fisher has spent more than 30 years researching human sexuality, gender differences in the brain, monogamy, adultery, and divorce. Her study of Chemistry.com members and MRI scans of people in and out of love helped define four unique personality types that may explain why we fall in love with one person rather than another.
Dr. Fisher is a renowned biological anthropologist and research professor at the Center for Human Evolution Studies in the Department of Anthropology at Rutgers University. She is also Chief Scientific Advisor to the Internet dating site Chemistry.com, a division of Match.com. She is the author of five books on the science of love relationships and frequently appears on television news programs including The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Early Show, and The View.
