REVIEW PEEK: La Scala of Little Italy was a lovely Friday dinner choice. We ate in the bar area where-Bar Manager, Chesley Patterson, when asked for a big red wine aptly and quickly plucked a great, well-priced bottle—a petite sirah- very affordable, rich and chewy. Lynn Cipollone, Catering and Marketing Manager, was hand-on making sure everything was flowing perfectly. Chef Nino’s kitchen was terrific serving a special cold Seafood salad which was amazing and then we all had the house grilled Caesar with fabulous homemade crusty bread.
Gia’s Café, next door, was bustling with both out-of-towners and locals bringing their own bottles of wine in for a delightful meal. Many enjoyed the rooftop deck. Mama Gia greets and seats while daughter Gia works behind the counter and kitchen. Quite a pair these 2 ladies are!
We then visited-IRENE Carolina LLaguano of TAPABAR RESTAURANT next door. Owner Carolina donned blonde locks amongst a main of deep brown hair, was busy busy on this Friday Happy Hour making sure her grandmother’s recipes from VENEZUALA pleased the many hungry guests. There was a special ….miso (?) drink, light, sweet and perfectly refreshing on a hot summer night.
REVIEW: Taverna Corvino al fresco continued to please.Ordered the grilled calamari, friend had halibut with a spicy marinara. It is always a pleasure to see Bar Manager, Jeff, GM Jim and Chef Paternotte take time to visit with the patrons at their table. We recommend their Wednesday 5 wines for $15 Italian Wine Tasting!
REVIEW: SUNDAY NIGHT take advantage of CINGHIALE in HARBOR EAST ANTIPASTI SUNDAY-3 course Italian dinner for $25 or for those in the know--get all you can eat antipasti salad for $9! We did and also enjoyed a $30 bottle of wine (you can take home what you don't consume now in Maryland), fabulous cold seafood salad full of scallops, shrimp and calamari/squid and tomato and crunchy bread cruton salad--yummy!. A wonderful surprise was additionally to help celebrate a special ZUNIGA family anniversary there too. What a lovely to cap off a delightful weekend.
