Rick Dempsey Mingles at Chocolate Affair Sponsor Reception by Guest Blogger: Caryn Sagal, senior account executive at Lawrence Howard and Associates and Co-Chair of The 19th Annual Chocolate Affair.
Silo Point's Style Lounge was the perfect setting for Health Care for the Homeless and The 19th Annual Chocolate Affair committee to thank sponsors for their generous support. My wonderful event co-chair Sharon Bunch of Creative Fundraising joined me and the HCH VIPs: Kevin Lindamood, Kevin Feldt, Paul Day and Beth Homa in greeting 30 guests including CITYPEEK.com Founder Patti Neumann -- thanks for helping us year after year! -- and Rick Dempsey. The former Baltimore Orioles catcher and World Series MVP will serve as Honorary Chair of The 19th Annual Chocolate Affair. He provided a major league welcome, graciously mingling with guests and posing for pictures taken by Art Wachter of Entertainment Consultants.
Kevin L. gave a rousing talk about how Health Care for the Homeless is getting people off the street, and how many more people HCH can help when they move to their fabulous new HQ off of Fallsway. Construction is almost complete. Other committee members chatting it up with sponsors included Carrie Ann Miller, Jerona Robinson, Cheryl Matriccini, Denise Dotterweich and Pam Malester, also an HCH Board Member.
Jack Elsby from The Milton Inn provided wine to celebrate the occasion, while Jerry Edwards of Chef's Expressions provided scrumptious hors d'oeuvres, served with a smile by Tammie Monaco (a long-time Chocolate Affair committee member) and her staff at Beck-n-Call Event Services. The evening was a terrific preview for our main event, Feb. 4. 2010, at M&T Bank Stadium’s South Club Level Lounge. BACKGROUND: Approximately 1,500 people attended the 18th Annual Chocolate Affair, raising more than
$165,000 for our neighbors in need. Last year, Health Care for the Homeless provided comprehensive services to 12,000 different Marylanders during 74,000 patient visits at clinic sites in Baltimore City, Frederick, and in Montgomery, Harford, and Baltimore Counties. More than 75 percent of these individuals were uninsured and lacked other access to care. For more information, www.hchmd.org.
