Myriam J. A. Chancy, author of the 2024 One Maryland One Book Selection What Storm, What Thunder, speaks in conversation with Haitian writers, scholars, and thinkers at  this Maryland Humanities event.  Chancy’s novel follows a cast of characters during the 2010 earthquake that struck Haiti.  The Haitian-Canadian-American author masterfully charts the inner lives of the characters affected by the disaster in scenes before, after, and during the earthquake.

Join us for a day of fishing and fundraising at the 5th Annual Casey Cares Rockfish Tournament on Friday, June 10th, 2022 at the Inn at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club in Stevensville. Guests will enjoy a competition to catch the 1st place rockfish – all for a terrific cause!

Maryland Humanities welcomes pediatrician Mona Hanna-Attisha, who helped expose the lead in Flint, Michigan’s water. The author of What the Eyes Don't See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City  — Maryland Humanities One Maryland One Book 2019 — will discuss her book in conversation with Talbot County Free Library's Bill Peak, answer questions, and sign books. All tour events are free.
